Abstract
Academic stress is a major psychological concern affecting higher education students in India, influenced by examination pressure, career uncertainty, and socio-economic expectations. This study investigates the sources of academic stress and coping mechanisms among 280 undergraduate arts students across three degree colleges in Marathwada region, Maharashtra. Utilizing the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and the Brief COPE inventory, the study identified examination burden and future employability as primary stressors. Problem-focused coping strategies were associated with lower stress levels, whereas avoidance coping correlated with higher anxiety.
