Abstract

Eco-friendly bio-synthesis of metallic nanoparticles using plant extracts offers significant advantages over hazardous chemical synthesis routes. This study demonstrates the rapid green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using aqueous leaf extract of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis as both reducing and capping agent. Formation of AgNPs was confirmed by UV-Vis surface plasmon resonance peak at 425 nm. Synthesized AgNPs exhibited potent antibacterial activity against Gram-negative (E. coli, P. aeruginosa) and Gram-positive (S. aureus) bacterial strains.
